Los Angeles Review of Books
In 2017, Robert began contributing to the LA Review of Books. His first series featured interviews with twelve leading Australian novelists, looking at questions of style, theme, and plot. The second is ongoing and focuses on global literature. These pieces examine translation, the public sphere, and ordinary language.
Between 2015 and 2018, Robert wrote fifty eight columns for Cultural Weekly. These engaged with contemporary literature and historically important works. It introduced a number of undervalued texts to the general reader with the hope of opening up new lines of inquiry.
In 2018, Robert became an interviewer for Liminal. He has spoken with ten emerging Asian-Australian creative practitioners about issues like craft, racism, and identity. This has involved poets, writers, cooks, arts producers, and editors, and, has the aim of building a strong, local community.
